We use a hand operated vacuum pump which causes a suction action to pull up the fascia (the body’s connective tissue). This can be left on site for a prolonged period or moved along the tissue. This is great for Musculoskeletal Pain and Injuries, Sporting Injuries, Muscle Strains and Sprains and Muscle Imbalance and Tightness. Cupping should be pain free but if you are tender in any area there may be a little discomfort. Bruising will occur but will then disappear in several days
Soft and Deep Tissue Massage – Sports Massage is one of the most common and popular treatments. It helps release bad toxins in the body, increases the blood flow to the affected area which gets fresh oxygen to the muscles, and helps with loosening the muscles themselves. The massage can be performed at different levels of pressure to suit you. Sports massage can also be an important element of any pre and post competition activity to aid injury prevention.
Trigger Point Therapy – Trigger points appear in soft tissue around the body due to stress, tension and/or from an injury and can result in decreased motion, pain, stiffness and discomfort. The name as it suggests indicates that we find the point of pain and release it from your body. This treatment is ideal for releasing stress or tension in your muscles.
Muscle Energy Techniques – This treatment helps you undertake gentle muscle contractions to help you relax and lengthen the muscle. There are two main types of therapy which are called Post Isometric Relaxation and Reciprocal Inhibition. Post Isometric Relaxation is undertaken to stretch and lengthen the muscle which helps to realign muscle fibres. Reciprocal Inhibition is a quicker movement which helps to get the opposing muscles to contract and relax in a smooth and synchronised way. This treatment is ideal if you are suffering with muscle tightness and movement issues.
Strapping and Taping – Strapping and taping can be applied to most places in the body to help with support, structure, lymphatic drainage, injury prevention and rehabilitation after an injury. I can provide both general and Kinesio taping.
Dry Needling – Dry Needling is a safe, effective treatment where one or more needles are inserted into the muscular tissue and has been proven to provide fast results in relieving pain. They can be inserted into most regions of the musculature. It can be used as a stand alone treatment as well as in a treatment plan to ensure long term relief of pain, and increased physical functions
Rehabilitation Therapy – Rehabilitation therapy is available to help get you back to full fitness. Typically you will undertake a programme of exercises which will help with improving, conditioning and gaining strength and mobility.
Injury Assessment – A full Injury Assessment can support preventative therapy to reduce the risk of injury and make you more pain free. The assessment will include a variety of specific tests the results of which will inform the therapy required to manage and overcome any issues that have been highlighted.
